Abstract Scope |
Arc DED has traditionally been developed using processes and methods derived from welding, that can be used with certain success to build simple components.
However, to successfully build complex components with guaranteed quality and defect free, new processes, inspection and qualification methods are needed. Cranfield University has been leading the field of Arc DED for several years and has developed in the past 5 years modified Arc processes that can increase the deposition efficiency of Arc-DED and developed different methods of inspection, qualification tailored for Arc DED AM. In this presentation we would like to present our latest results that enabled to increase the deposition rate of Gas Metal Arc to more than 10kg/h in steel with independent control of energy and feed rate and also highlight our efforts in qualification and inspection |
