Abstract Scope |
Soft magnetic alloys are highly important for power generation and conversion in electronic devices due to their easy magnetization and demagnetization properties. As clean energy technologies like electric vehicles continue to grow, soft magnetic materials and components are being used in various devices including motors, generators, and transformers. However, conventional processing methods like casting and powder metallurgy cannot achieve the complex geometries and lightweight designs required for efficient electric motors. Laser powder bed fusion, an additive manufacturing technology, offers significant advantages in terms of complex geometry production and material waste reduction. In this study, we investigated the impact of adjustable L-PBF process parameters on the quality and soft magnetic properties of Fe-Si (>4.5wt.%) alloy components. By utilizing Gaussian process regression with a small dataset, we optimized the process parameters and established the optimal operating window. These findings provide valuable insights into the process-structure-property relationship within extensive design spaces. |
