Abstract Scope |
The development of sustainable construction from composite materials has been widely studied in recent years. The use of alternative materials that generate less impact on the environment have been options that can combine good mechanical behavior and sustainability. Thus, the present study aims to study the tensile behavior of epoxy matrix composites reinforced with kaolin. Kaolin was characterized by SEM, XRF and XRD. The specimens were produced in silicone molds by hand lay up with the addition of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30% wt and tested in tension and the fracture region analyzed by SEM. The results showed that the specimens showed a fragile behavior and that the addition of 5%wt showed the best mechanical result, which can be used to produce coating boards for civil construction. |
