Abstract Scope |
Carbon fibers are extensively used for various aerospace and automotive applications. With the growing usage of carbon fiber for reinforced composite application produces a large amount of waste. Recently, researchers are interested on development of sustainable methods for recycling waste carbon fibers for advanced polymer composite applications. In this study the ball-milled waste carbon fibers have been used as reinforcement fillers at various weight percentage loading's in a bio-based epoxy matrix. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to study the morphology of the ball-milled carbon fibers (BMCF). Various analytical techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and flexural tests were used to study the mechanical and thermal properties. The mechanical properties were found to improve considerably. |
