Abstract Scope |
I will discuss my group’s recent efforts on exploring viable strategies to heterogeneously engineer wafer-scale 2D transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) layers and their post-assembly property modulations. The first part of the talk will focus on the water-assisted spontaneous delamination/integration of wafer-scale 2D TMD layers on arbitrary substrates. The underlying principle for these approaches will be discussed in the framework of the water-driven capillary force and a range of their device applications such as stretchable photodetectors and actuators will be introduced. The second part of the talk will focus on the post-assembly strategies to modulate the chemical/electrical properties of wafer-scale 2D TMD layers. An anion-exchange driven conversion of 2D TMD compositions will be introduced and its application to realize 2D/2D heterostructures with interfacial seamlessness will be discussed. Lastly, technological implications for enabling novel electronics – e.g. all 2D flexible devices with reduced contact resistances – will be discussed in details. |
