Abstract Scope |
Molybdenum and its alloys are receiving increasing attention for their high strength and impressive thermal properties. Mo is an excellent candidate for atmosphere-controlled 3D printing as the process avoids oxidation and formability concerns. This work discusses issues that come with printing pure Mo and how increasing ductility can mitigate these issues. Increasing ductility with dilute Re additions is evaluated through compression testing vacuum arc cast samples and additively manufactured samples. Microstructure and mechanical properties are compared. |
