Abstract Scope |
Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) and Laser Powder Directed Energy Deposition (LP-DED) Additive Manufacture (AM) of refractory metal and alloys is an active area of development for propulsion applications that operate under extreme environments. Due to the surface roughness of these AM components, surface finish enhancement was applied to specimens in order to characterize the resulting surface finish as a function of material removal rate. Specimens were then coated and subjected to cyclic oxidation exposure testing to evaluate coating performance vs. surface finish condition. This process was applied to L-PBF AM W, Mo, C103 and LP-DED AM C103. |
