Abstract Scope |
A coating with superior properties is essential to prolong the life of the mold. In this contribution, a high-performance Ni-Co-Fe ternary alloy coating is prepared by electrodeposition, the parameters of the electrodeposition process are optimized, and first-principles calculations clarify the strengthening mechanism of Fe atoms. The results show that the hardness of the Ni-Co-Fe alloy coating is 24.7% higher than that of the binary coating. The optimized current density and temperature are 4A/dm2 and 45°C, respectively. At this time, the coating has dense crystallization and no obvious surface defects. Furthermore, the introduction of Fe atoms can effectively enhance the properties of NiCo alloys, such as elasticity and hardness, and reduce the degree of anisotropy of the alloy. Electronic properties were investigated and show that the improvement of the mechanical properties can be attributed to the strong local covalent interaction of the alloy after doping with Fe atoms. |
