Abstract Scope |
With initiatives such as the Materials Genome Initiative, the United States formalized its aspiration to accelerate materials discovery and reduce the time to insertion of new material technologies on a grand scale. With the more recent August 25th memo from the U.S. Office of Science and Technology Policy, the U.S. federal government has advanced the requirements on data sharing for all federal funding. As PIs, institutions and federal agencies work through satisfying an often dynamic and ever-evolving set of expectations and constraints, the FAIR principles are a useful guidepost on the path toward accelerated discovery through data sharing. Perspectives from the standpoint of federal program management will be shared and a newly developed data management framework from the Division of Materials Research will be highlighted. |
