Abstract Scope |
The alumina smelting industry generates large amounts of red mud and is actively researching its utilization. In addition, in the nickel smelting industry, the amount of fayalite slag generated from the manufacture of nickel mats has been increasing rapidly in recent years. Both wastes contain large amounts of iron and also contain useful ceramic components. When properly mixed, these two materials can replace ceramic materials that are currently manufactured from natural mud. In this study, ceramics were prepared by varying the mixing ratio and sintering temperature of the two materials. The phase transformation and sintered microstructure were then characterized, and finally, the physical and chemical stability was explored. The results showed that ceramic materials made from mixed waste can be used industrially to replace those made from natural clay. |
