Abstract Scope |
Al4SiC4, one of the nanolayered-ternary compounds, has high melting point, good mechanical properties and machinability, excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance at high temperature, and it has been recognized as the promising materials in refractory field. In our previous study, the present authors fabricated Al4SiC4/SiC ceramics by hot-pressing and evaluated their oxidation in dry air at high temperature and corrosion behavior with CMAS. To enhance the oxidation and corrosion resistance of Al4SiC4 ceramics at high temperature, we paid attention to Y3Al5O12 (YAG), which shows thermal stability at high temperature, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance against high temperature steam. Furthermore, YAG has been often used as a sintering additive for non-oxide ceramics. In this study, YAG was added to Al4SiC4 and Al4SiC4-based ceramics with YAG were fabricated by hot-pressing, and their sinterability was investigated. In addition, their mechanical, thermal and oxidation properties were investigated. |
