Presentation Title Unveiling the Potential: A Paradigm Shift in Energy Reduction at Hindalco Renukoot Alumina Refinery

Abstract Scope The global alumina refining industry is under growing pressure to adopt eco-conscious practices and achieve sustainability goals. Addressing the energy-intensive nature of alumina refining processes, it is vital to reducing the industry's environmental impact. Hindalco adopted a comprehensive strategy to promote energy-efficient practices for a greener future. The efforts and initiatives resulted in reduced energy demand at the Renukoot refinery from 13 GJ/T to 11.9 GJ/T using process optimization techniques, data-driven insights, adaptive technologies, energy management practices, and waste heat recovery methods. Collaborating with process engineers, industry experts, and management was crucial to monitor, analyse, and optimize operations. Apart from significant energy reduction, the initiatives led to enhanced economic viability, and improved sustainability credentials for the refinery. By setting a precedent, Hindalco Renukoot can inspire other refineries to follow suit, fostering a more sustainable and eco-friendly alumina refining industry.
