Prediction of the ductile fracture through FE-simulation in sheet metal forming has always been a challenging task. In this paper, the plasticity and the fracture characteristics of EN AW-6061 T4 aluminium sheet are investigated. Different specimen geometries covering a wide range of stress triaxialities are extracted from 1.0 mm thick aluminium sheet and tested under quasi-static loading condition. The flow curve from the flat tensile test is extrapolated beyond the point of diffuse necking by an iterative inverse method. The failure strains, as a function of stress triaxialities and Lode parameters, are identified by a combined experimental-numerical approach. Based on these outcomes, a material card for LS-DYNA including GISSMO has been created and calibrated. Using this material card, a cross-die cup drawing simulation is performed. The validity of the material parameters in terms of failure prediction is checked by comparing the simulation result with the experiment.
