The formability of the metallic sheet depends on many parameters, like strain hardening exponent, anisotropy, friction, etc. Hence, it is important to determine the microstructural evolution to understand the forming behavior of the foils. In this study, the forming limit curve (FLC) was experimentally determined using a conventional LDH set up with an aid of two different thickness shim as well as by a miniaturized LDH set up for a 0.2 mm thick commercially pure titanium (CP Ti) foil. The results obtained confirmed the effectiveness of shim in the forming of thin foils in a conventional LDH set up. The microstructural evolution revealed fragmentation of grains during the forming, while the texture study showed a noticeable change in the texture at different strains during the forming process. |
