||Research on Fracture Behavior of Steel Material for Battery Shell

Cracking often occurs during the manufacture of high-thinning battery shell by using multi-stage deep drawing and ironing processes. To avoid such kind of defect, the research on the fracture mechanism and influencing factors are of great importance. In the current study the material is tested for fracture limit under the condition of proportional loading and non-proportional loading. Meanwhile the influence of the microstructure on the fracture limit is investigated as well. On this bases a new formability index is proposed to evaluate the ability of sheet metal to obtain homogeneous deformation on deep drawing of cylindrical parts. The findings could be used to guide the process design of high-thinning battery shell manufacture.
