Abstract Scope |
Converting the captured CO2 into reusable chemical products can not only delay carbon pollution but also achieve a balanced carbon cycle, thus it is widely deemed as a solution to mitigate global warming. Conventional capture and reuse of CO2 process could be very costly and energy intensive. Alternative approaches to capture and conversion of CO2 are, therefore, much needed. In this presentation, a new type of CO2 transport membrane reactor will be described for concurrent CO2 capture and conversion with 1) propane and 2) H2 as the feedstock. The product is propylene for the former and ethanol alcohol for the latter. The membrane reactor configuration, types of catalysts and performance (conversion, selectivity, and yield) will be provided in detail. Future outlook of the new membrane reactors will also be discussed. |
