Abstract Scope |
The unsatisfied surface quality still impedes the widely application of incremental sheet forming (ISF). The forming tool is key factor for surface quality due to directly and locally contacting sheet during forming process. In this study, the influence of tool types on surface topography is investigated through experiment and simulation. First, five forming tools with different materials and texture types are selected, such as metal fixed ball tool (MFB), metal rotating ball tool (MRB), acetal fixed ball tool (AFB), metal rotating wheel tool (MRW) and acetal rotating wheel tool (ARW). Then, the surface topographies of different tool types are compared at inclined wall of truncated pyramids through experiment results. Meanwhile, the numerical models with different tool types are established. Based on the numerical results, the generation mechanisms of surface topography with different tool types are obtained. |
