| Abstract Scope |
Nb plays a crucial role in the economic and industrial advancement of several nations. Brazil stands out as one of the world leaders in niobium mineral reserves and plays a significant role in global production. Niobium is used to create HSLA steels to improve strength and corrosion resistance. It is also essential for aerospace superalloys, MRI scanner magnets, and advanced electric vehicle batteries. Ta, on the other hand, is a highly corrosion-resistant, ductile refractory metal, used in electronics, aerospace & defense, medical and chemical industry. Flotation tests were carried out with low grade Nb ore samples from a placer deposit located in the Brazilian Amazon region, aiming to develop a route to enrich Nb and Ta in the natural fines. The found results indicate that a reverse flotation route could be used in association with the gravity route, such as jigs and spirals, to recover Nb and Ta bearing minerals. |
