| Abstract Scope |
With ongoing scientific and technological progress and intensified bismuth research, the metal has evolved beyond its traditional uses to become a key material in the advancement of high-tech and next-generation products. In particular, the growing interest in bismuth-based anode materials has spurred the development of a tailored process designed to produce high-purity bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) compound. In this context, a hydrometallurgical approach was applied to treat a native bismuth ore containing bismutite, zinnwaldite, and quartz by hydrochloric acid solution. The effects of process variables including acid concentration, reaction temperature, and particle size on bismuth dissolution were systematically studied. Under optimized conditions, 98.2% of the bismuth content was successfully recovered within 120 minutes. The leach solution was subsequently treated with NaOH to quantitatively precipitate the bismuth as BiOCl. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the purity of the resulting BiOCl: 00-006-0249 powder, validating its suitability as a precursor material for supercapacitor applications. |
