Abstract Scope |
Accurate predictions of phase equilibria and properties of multicomponent alloys by Thermo-Calc rely on the critically assessed thermodynamic descriptions stored within Calphad databases. In 2015 the first version of the Thermo-Calc High-Entropy Alloy database, TCHEA, was released. This database requires accurate descriptions of the entire chemistry range in all metallic systems of interest to HEAs, especially near equiatomic chemistries must yield accurate phase predictions. There is significant overlap between 3d transition metal HEAs, Refractory HEAs, and the developing field of BCC Superalloys. Recent improvements to this database and the Thermo-Calc software in general are presented with applications to BCC superalloys.
An example of predicting the printability of a BCC superalloy is made, utilizing the new keyhole model with fluid flow, and printability map plotting in the AM module. |
