Abstract Scope |
The process of obtaining antimony trioxide from Empresa Minera Unificada S.A. (EMUSA) produce slags with high Sb (20-30%) contents, which have been stored since the plant began operations. In this project trying to increase Sb recovery these slags were treated with a charcoal fusion finding the best relations for FeO:Na2 O:SiO2 and FeO:SiO2:CaO. In the first phase using a laboratory flame furnace metallic Sb was obtained. On the second phase of the project using a thermobalance where the parameters are better control the best slag ratio used was 35:15:50 with the system FeO:SiO2:CaO and with the system FeO:Na2O:SiO2 the best ratio was 35:15:50 in both cases 98% recoveries were obtained in Sb. In the second part, fusion in the thermobalance, the experiments indicate that the reaction that controls the process is PbSb2O6+6C=2Sb+Pb+6CO. Also the experiments shows that excess of charcoal used can reduce Sb recovery. |
