Using complimentary REE separation methods to increase efficiency and purity
Rare earth elements REE are critical to many modern devices. However, they are difficult to separate because of the similarities in their properties. Due to the similarity in properties of individual REE, it is advantageous to use complimentary methods that are ideally suited to a small subset of these elements to enable more efficient overall separation efficiency and product purity. This presentation will discuss the results of selective adsorption media such as carboxylate, phosphonate, and metal organic framework materials, complexation, mass transport control, reduction and precipitation, and magnetic force-based methods to increase separation efficiency and purity of individual rare earth elements from mixed feed sources. |
