Hydrogen peroxide is known as a reactive agent that can influence electron transfer and reaction pathways in chemical processing systems. Its role in the treatment of aluminosilicate ores such as spodumene (LiAlSi2O6) is not well established. This study examines the potential impact of hydrogen peroxide on lithium extraction. The results show that the addition of hydrogen peroxide to an inorganic acid can improve extraction efficiency under mild conditions. However, its effectiveness varies depending on the chemical environment and the mechanisms governing the process. Furthermore, thermodynamic analysis indicates that hydrogen peroxide promotes more favorable reaction pathways and alters the distribution of reaction products. Characterization of spodumene residues highlights system-dependent differences in crystalline structure, consistent with reports that processing pathway and product mineralogy are sensitive to the redox conditions imposed during the treatment. These findings suggest that H2O2 enhances lithium extraction from LiAlSi2O6. |
