Abstract Scope |
In this study, experiments are designed to investigate the effect of strain path change on fracture strain of an aluminum alloy sheet. Three different prestrain paths are designed including shear, uniaxial tension and plane strain tension. Then the prestrained sheets are cut into different specimens. These specimens are tested to realize fracture in shear, uniaxial tension, plane strain tension and equibiaxial tension. All the tests are recorded by a digital image correlation system which helps analyze the strain paths of prestrain and the secondary stretching. Fracture strains are measured digitally of different bilinear strain paths such as uniaxial tension-shear, shear-uniaxial tension, shear-plane strain tension, etc. Fracture loci are generated and compared with the fracture locus under linear strain path. The comparison shows that there is large effect of prestrain on the fracture locus of the alloy. |
