Abstract Scope |
The work covers the analysis of the possibility of using WAAM for additive, multi-material, robotic regenerative surfacing of hot forging dies. First, the process of conventional surfacing of hot forging dies was analyzed. Based on the assessment and measurement of wear with a laser scanner, the scope of machining by milling was calculated. Then, the robotic surfacing technology was developed, in which multi-material gradient layers were used. The layers were first tested in laboratory conditions, where their microstructure and properties were assessed. These layers were then applied in a demonstration process of regenerative surfacing of the selected hot forging die. The high potential of multi-material wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) was demonstrated and confirmed in both labolatorial and industrial conditions. |
