Abstract Scope |
Roll pass optimization is essential to guaranteeing the quality of shape rolling products. In this paper, the change of rolling moments is used as a crucial performance index to optimize the roll pass sequence of round bar continuous rolling. For the two different kinds of possible roll pass sequences of alloy steel round bar Ф100mm rolled from 200mm×200mm square billet, thermal mechanical coupled FEM was applied to simulate the hot continuous rolling processes, respectively. The simulated stress, strain and temperature were used to reveal the cause of possible rolling cracks and the simulated rolling moments were used as the evaluation index to determine the optimized roll pass schedule which was verified by actual production.
