Abstract Scope |
Electrically-assisted double sided incremental forming (EA-DSIF) is a flexible forming method suitable for the processing of hard-to-form materials and complex-shaped parts. In EA-DSIF process, electric current, as a heating source, is incorporated into the DSIF process to increase formability of materials. However, EA-DSIF processes have a few noticeable drawbacks, such as the forming temperature is unstable during the process due to the unstable tool-sheet contact area. Moreover, due to the fact that the heating zone is blocked by the tools, it is challenging to measure the actual forming temperature. In this work, finite element simulations will be conducted to predict the forming temperature. A real-time forming temperature control system including a PID controller will be developed to accurately control the temperature. |
