Abstract Scope |
In order to improve the predictive capabilities of the finite element programs used for the simulation of sheet metal forming processes, some of the modern plasticity models include the balanced biaxial yield stress as input data. The aim of this paper is to assess the accuracy of the methods for computing the balanced biaxial yield stress. The principle of plastic work equivalence, the fitting of biaxial stress — strain curve and Hill’s formula were considered as methods for estimating the balanced biaxial yield stress. The finite element simulation of the hydraulic bulge test was performed using the balanced biaxial yield stress determined by various methods. The accuracy of the methods for computing the balanced biaxial yield stress was evaluated by comparing the numerical predictions with experimental data. The strain and the geometry of the specimen at the end of the bulging process were considered as indices for comparing the results. |
