Abstract Scope |
The third generation of advanced high strength steels are the most innovative steels developed to fulfil the requirements of automotive industry applications such as large energy absorption before failure, reduced weight and good formability. The introduction of these steels in the production mass, requires a deep knowledge of their behaviour under plastic deformations. In the meantime, the accurate prediction of their mechanical properties from numerical simulations is a priority. The aim of this work is to understand and simulate the mechanical behaviour of a third-generation Gen3 980T/600- retained austenite bearing-high elongation steel grade under simple shear test and revers loading test. The digital image correlation technique was utilised to measure the shear strain. The material shows a strong Bauschinger effect and permanent softening, without transient effect. The homogeneous anisotropic hardening (HAH) approach was selected for numerical simulation. The accuracy of the model was analysed comparing the experimental and theoretical results. |
