Abstract Scope |
The forming process of radial-axial ring rolling involves certain instabilities, causing from the underlying principal of the synchronous and continuous deformation in two opposite rolling gaps. To reduce the emerging consequential errors like a climbing of the ring in die radial rolling gap, we installed an image processing system to detect the error. Combined with the implementation of the camera setting into the control software of the rolling machine, it is possible to test automated rolling strategies to stabilise the forming process in the case of an upcoming ring climbing. The paper will illustrate, how an intervention limit for the control system could be evaluated, if there is a systematic climbing behaviour of the ring and the combination of an expert interview with an effect analysis of the forming parameters on the stabilizing impact to develop an ideal forming strategy. |
