Abstract Scope |
A maraging steel is widely used for a hot forging die, rocket case, and aerospace part because of its thermal-mechanical characteristics such as high strength and toughness at high temperature. In this study, the selective laser melting (SLM) was applied to fabricate two different specimens with perpendicular and horizontal direction, respectively. And, thermal-mechanical simulator, Gleeble, and in-situ electron backscatter diffraction were used to investigate the effect of additive manufacturing with different building directions on thermal-mechanical properties and microstructure evolution of the maraging steel. From the results, the various flow stress characteristics of the SLMed maraging steel and microstructure changes were obtained. Furthermore, the specimen processed by additional aging and hot isostatic press showed different microstructure characteristics compared to the SLMed one due to martensite phase transformation. It was conclude that the maraging steel manufactured by SLM could be used for various applications at high temperature by controlling the microstructure evolution. |
