Abstract Scope |
In this paper, an enhanced Continuum Damage Mechanics (CDM) model was applied for failure prediction of AZ31B Mg alloy sheet. In particular, the damage model was coupled with an advanced plasticity model to reproduce accurately the asymmetric cyclic behavior of Mg alloys induced by combined slip, twinning and detwinning deformation modes. Next, the stress triaxiality and Lode angle dependence were introduced to improve fracture prediction capability at various loading paths. The proposed model was implemented into finite element code ABAQUS/Explicit through user subroutine VUMAT. Several applications to AZ31B Mg alloy sheet metal forming processes were made and good agreements were found between the simulation results and the experimental observations. |
