Abstract Scope |
Ring Rolling is an advanced incremental metal forming process used in manufacturing seamless ring-shape parts, such as bearing ring, railroad wheel tyres, ring gears and so on. The applications of this rotary forming technology contribute to various industry fields including automobile, aeronautics, petrochemicals and wind power industry. Yet, it is still challenging to produce a defect-free ring with desired geometrical features and material properties based on conventional experimental methods. Now ring rolling simulation tool based on FEM has been widely used to analyze process and to improve process design with much lower cost. In this work, couple of ring rolling cases were modeled and simulated using finite element analysis software DEFORM-3D®. Simulation results were compared with experimental data including geometric dimension, torque and force, which shows great agreement. |
