Abstract Scope |
The major problem with the combination of dissimilar titanium and aluminum alloys is emanated from the different properties such as thermal expansion and contraction, leading to the difficulty at various bonding processes. The purpose of this work is to explore the source of tractional distortion induced by the bimetal co-extrusion and the interface bonding mechanism. First, a novel non-equal channel lateral co-extrusion forming technology is proposed for the fabrication of Ti/Al composite lamination. Second, the three-dimensional numerical model that couples thermo-mechanical physics is established as well as the experimental validation model. Third, the residual internal stress field and process optimization are analyzed based on the simulation results. The research work is helpful to identify ways to improve the forming quality and property of titanium-aluminum laminated composite plate and establish robust process conditions for stable and precise manufacturing of bimetal laminated composite structures. |
