Abstract Scope |
Multi-material concepts steadily gain importance in the automotive and aviation industry in order to achieve significant weight reduction. In this respect, a new hybrid construction approach is the combination of steel and fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (FRT) in a sandwich design. At elevated temperature the steel and FRT can be formed and joined in a combined forming process. However, the elevated temperatures and use of different materials with diverging forming behaviours leads in a complex process. Therefore, this research deals with the experimental investigation and numerical modelling of the material behaviour of both steel and FRT under deep drawing conditions in order to realize an efficient one-shot forming process. The numerical analysis is realised by means of user defined material models within the commercial FE-software Abaqus. Finally the models are validated by means of experimental tests. |
