||Research on the Evolution of Coke Structure in Blast Furnace

Coke is a critical raw meterial to blast furnace ironmaking with foremost function to maintain the permeability of burden column. The evolution of coke structure is vital to estimate coke deterioration behavior in blast furnace. However, with limited knowledge of coke structure deterioration, the changes in microstructure of coke samples from tuyere regions as well as feed coke were investigated. The microstructure was characterized by several methods such as image analysis method, polarizing microscope and SEM-EDS. The results showed that the porosity of feed coke was larger than tuyere cokes for the reason of slag-metal accumulation in tuyere coke pore. Microscope and SEM results suggested that the texture of coke was severely damaged as the influence of existing alkalis and other factors. This study could provide practical significance for ironmaking industry.
