Presentation Title Multi-scale Plasticity Modeling for Sheet Metal Forming Considering Texture Gradient and Microstructural Statistics

Abstract Scope We present a multi-scale approach for the modeling of sheet metal forming by coupling large scale finite element simulations with full-filed crystal plasticity-spectral based virtual experiments. An advanced anisotropic yield function is used to describe the plastic behavior of the sheet metal at the macro-scale, while a representative volume element (RVE) at the micro-scale is ready to predict the yield surface evolution for each integration point. The multi-scale model is applied to simulate the cup drawing of a ferritic stainless steel sheet, which has a pronounced texture gradient through the thickness. To account for the texture gradient and microstructural statistics, two groups of RVEs with one assigned with the subsurface texture and the other assigned with the central layer texture are created, and the texture assigned to each RVE is sampled individually. The simulated earing profiles are compared to experimental data.
