Abstract Scope |
The deformation behavior of a hot-rolled steel sheet in hole expansion forming using a flat-bottomed cylindrical punch is investigated both experimentally and analytically to clarify the effects of yield functions on the accuracy of finite element analysis (FEA). The elastic-plastic deformation behavior of the test material is precisely measured using both biaxial tensile tests using cruciform specimens (ISO 16842, 2014) and multiaxial tube expansion tests using tubular specimens, fabricated by roller bending and laser welding, to determine appropriate yield functions. Many linear stress paths in the first quadrant of stress space are applied to the specimens to measure the contours of plastic work and the directions of plastic strain rates. Several yield functions that are capable of reproducing the deformation behavior of the test material under biaxial tension are identified and applied to hole expansion forming to discuss the effect of material models on the accuracy of the FEA. |
