Additive manufacturing of pressure containing boundaries is of interest to many industries. A project was initiated to develop several different methods to join and weld AM materials. The approach that is being pursued is a low energy solid state spot weld. This general approach has been routinely used for conventionally prepared tubing and is being expanded to AM elements.
This presentation will describe the development of weld parameter selection, the evolution of sample geometry, and the non-destructive and destructive test results.
