Abstract Scope |
Due to high heat extraction, low thermal expansion and wear requirements in pistons, Al-Si alloys that has Si content higher than 12 wt% are preferred. As the hyper-eutectic alloys are used, the fluidity becomes a significant problem. Therefore, in this work, the effect of Cu and Ni content on Al-12Si was evaluated and Ce was added to characterise the properties of piston alloys in an aim to introduce new candidate alloy composition. It was found that Ce increased the fluidity but the tensile property was below compare to Ni and Cu added alloy. |
