||Impact of Heat Treatment on Light Weight Multicomponent AlFeCuCrMg x (x =0, 0.5, 1, 1.7) Alloys

In the present study, the effect of heat treatment temperature on the spark plasma sintered multicomponent alloys (MCAs) namely AlFeCuCrMgx(x = 0, 0.5, 1, 1.7) was studied. These alloys were heat treated at 470oC, 600oC and 820oC in natural atmosphere to study the diffusional behavior at different temperatures in case of MCAs. The phase evolution of heat treated multicomponent alloys was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The diffusion of Cu atoms in the grain boundaries of parent phases was observed only in case of AlFeCuCrMgx (x = 0, 0.5) alloys when heat treated at 470oC, 600oC and 820oC. These results had been conferred with the microstructure of these alloys. The materials-structure-properties correlation in case of heat treated AlFeCuCrMgx alloys have been discussed in details and have also been correlated based on conventional theories.
