Abstract Scope Photo-crosslinkable hydrogels based on synthetic polymer usually have good mechanical properties but poor biodegradability and biocompatibility. On the contrary, the hydrogels based on natural polymer have good biological properties (good biocompatibility, low immune response and good biodegradability) and tunable physical characteristics. However, these hydrogels often suffer from poor mechanical performance and low adhesion to biological tissue (tissue adhesion), which lead to certain deformation, avulsion and exfoliation of hydrogels after application onto the wound bed. Therefore, it is critical to develop photo-crosslinkable natural polymers hydrogels with enhanced tissue adhesion, mechanical performance and antibacterial capability that can allow surgeons to replace conventional tedious suture with convenient and effective wound dressing. The challenge of getting good elastic To address the above problem of poor mechanical performance, we proposed a double-crosslinking-double-network design by simultaneously introducing two types of crosslinking mechanisms and two types of polymer networks.
