Abstract Scope Magnetic nanoparticles have attracted considerable attention due to numerous applications such as drug vehicles, hyperthermia, controlled/sustained release phenomena, magnetic filters, prostate cancer, antibacterial agent and information storage. As such, this study reports the synthesis of gum arabic emulsified Fe3O4 nanoparticles and natural rubber latex nanocomposites via a modified co-precipitation technique. Thereafter, the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding features of the synthesized nanocomposites, microscopic and crystallographic analyses were examined. SEM and TEM results showed that the nano-magnetite distributes their particles into the natural rubber matrices in an excellent manner. Analysis of the NRL/Fe3O4 nanocomposites showed saturation magnetization of 6emu/g and superior EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) value of 9.51db at 9.63GHz with superior magnetic properties. The diameters of the generated Fe3O4 nanoparticles were observed to be in the range of 10 – 20 nm. XRD analysis of the fabricated powder confirms the formation of pure and highly crystalline Fe3O4 nanoparticles.
