Abstract Scope Nanosized metal particles are considerably utilized in biomedical domains due to their small size-to-volume ratio, chemical properties, exceptional optical, comprehensive thermal resilience and physical properties. Among them, gold nanoparticles (GNPs) have been proven to be a remarkable choice for utilization as an antibacterial agent. AuNP has been demonstrated to have a satisfactory performance against several types of pathogens, and analysis of its antibacterial action has also become a trending subject in contemporary times. This report outlines the antibacterial action of gold nanoparticles against various types of bacteria. The challenges surrounding their use as an antibacterial agent, future growth are also highlighted in this review.
