Abstract Scope |
This study investigated the effects of austempering conditions on the mechanical properties and bendability of high-strength bainitic steels In order to maintain economic productivity, the austempering time was limited to a few minutes or less. The findings indicated that high strength, high elasticity, and good bending workability could be achieved within one minute of austempering time. To achieve an elongation of over 15% even with a short austempering time, a residual austenite fraction of at least 10% was necessary. The bending workability could be improved by refining the fine bainite and the residual austenite morphology through high cooling rates. This study included detailed analysis using EBSD and XRD techniques. |
