Abstract Scope |
Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) are major threats to facilities service in the marine environment. To sought an advanced alloy that possesses the antimicrobial efficacy by Cu alloying while maintaining the good corrosion resistance in salt water, The Cu-bearing AlCoCrFeNiCux HEAs are developed in the present study. The investigation of antibacterial properties show that the addition of Cu effectively kill both the attached and detached remote cells. The bactericidal activities of Cu-bearing HEAs are attributed to the formation of Cu+/Cu2+ containing passive films and the releasing of ROS catalyzed by Cu. The increased Cu content improve both the bacterial killing efficiency and the compactness of passive film as long as the microstructures keep single solid solution, since the Cu-rich phases lead to the severe localized corrosion. |
