High entropy alloys (HEAs) have attracted widespread concern recently due to its excellent mechanical properties that cannot be easily achieved in conventional alloys. Dislocation activities such as dislocation nucleation plays a key role on the mechanical behavior of HEAs, yet the atomic mechanisms of dislocation nucleation in HEAs have not been clearly revealed . In this report, the homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation of both partial and full dislocations in a typical face centered cubic FeCoCrNiMn HEA was studied by combining molecular dynamics simulation and continuum mechanics models. On the base of dislocation nucleation nature in FeCoCrNiMn HEA, the temperature and strain rate dependent mechanical properties of bulk FeCoCrNiMn HEA and FeCoCrNiMn nanopillars are obtained by using dislocation dynamics theory. It is hoped that our results can shed some light on the understanding of the excellent mechanical properties of HEAs. |
