Abstract Scope |
Moisture control is pivotal in iron ore green pellet preparation. Through experimental and industrial studies, this work investigates the effects of iron concentrate moisture, bentonite properties, and pelletizing parameters on pellet quality and energy consumption. Key findings include:(1) Iron concentrate moisture at 8% yields optimal pellet performance, with inherent moisture showing 15–20% higher strength than process-added water;(2) Bentonite water absorption >500% increases pellet moisture >9.6%, deteriorating bed permeability;(3) A novel "mechanical force partially replacing wetting tension" approach was established through high-pressure grinding , water addition point optimization, and increased disc speed, reducing moisture to 8.6%;(4) An intelligent water-flow control system improved pellet size qualification to 88% and feed stability to 96.1%.Industrial validation confirms this integrated system ensures pellet quality while significantly lowering roasting energy consumption, providing an effective approach for sustainable pellet production. |
