Abstract Scope The main material, used for the manufacture of taps are high-speed steels P18, P9, P6M5, providing high wear resistance, heat resistance and strength, as well as satisfactory viscosity. The most effective alloying elements are tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V). It is established that the optimal content of alloying elements is 2.0 ... 2.5% W, 1.7 ... 2.0% Mo and 1.6 ... 1.8% V, which ensures successful operation of the taps.
