| Abstract Scope |
The β-titanium alloy Ti5553 (Ti-5Al-5Mo-5V-3Cr wt%) provides superior fracture toughness over Ti-6Al-4V alloy. As a result, Ti5553 can be a material of choice for complex geometries such as lattice structures and under multiaxial loading where enhanced damage tolerance is desired. This work systematically performs strut-level stress analysis under multiaxial loading using a calibrated crystal plasticity model and with experimental strut-level multiaxial loading results. We discuss optimizing microstructure and geometrical topology interplay under various loading conditions to enhance the mechanical strength of the lattice structures. |
